Hi everybody,
I just had my xenon headlights refurbished only to find out that automatic leveling is toast, which wasn't much of a surprise. I replaced front sensor due to a broken arm and went to check the one in the rear - it looks fine, the problem is that it is not connected and I can't find the cable!
I tried looking from beneath, I tried removing the fender liner and still no luck.
Q: Could somebody please explain to me how is this cable routed? This is the best picture I could find and the damn shock is hiding the most important thing to me . It would be great if I could pinpoint the place where the cable is coming out of the car (leaving interior).
The car is 1999 M5 euro.

Can you have a closer look where I've circled in blue?
That looks like the cable coming up from behind

As StRaNgEdAyS indicates, the top of the level sensor appears in that photo to have the connector plugged in. If not, you should be able to find the connector and/or its harness wiring stuffed behind the wheel liner, which is flexible enough to bend and peer behind with a mirror and flashlight ... though you may need to remove the fastener nuts around the shock.

Of course the photo seems to have the connector plugged in, it's a generic picture I found on the internet. Like I said, I tried removing wheel/fender liner and the cable is not there. It's not obvious from the picture, but the sensor is located more towards the center of the car and it doesn't look like its cable is supposed to go under the wheel/fender liner.
Years ago the headlight adjuster flange on the wishbone was damaged by a tow truck, causing the headlights to be way off. The dealer wanted almost $1k to replace the entire wishbone, which I declined. I ended up repairing the problem with some aluminum bar stock. Anyway, here is a pic I took that shows the wire and connector and it looks like it is coming from the center of the car. I'm also attaching a second pic of the sensor which I believe I got from Jim Lev on the Roadfly site.

If I find any more pics of the area I'll post them up.
