    iso knowledge.

i have a 2005 325i sport. im wanting to make the exhaust throatier without sounding like a ricer with a fart cannon. local shop wants 800+ for a billy boat axle back exhaust or 1400+ for cat back. does the "sport" have a different sounding exhaust note than the non sport? are all mufflers going to require a mortgage on my kids, even used ones? is there an easier ie; cheaper way to get a better noise or do i need to bite the bullet and let the shop go loco? my car is in storage right now so i dont know, so i ask do i have the valve that i can golf tee on the sport? does a muffler delete sound good and does it hurt the engine or lose power? im a newb so anyone with info/advice please feel free to chime in.

You want advice, here it is: DO NOT mess with the exhaust. We don't drive "high-end" euro cars so that they can sound like the effing loud Mustang I followed down my ridge this evening. You want ricer loud, buy a ricer, simple as that. Can likely find one already has the fart can. Or a Subaru, they come noisy from the factory.

"sport" just is your steering wheel and seats. Everything else is identical.

Your prices sound high for exhaust work. Shop around a bit. It sounds like they might be quoting you based on a bolt in solution, rather then a custom universal solution(IE Muffler).
