My 430i has a crack in the windshield. It's a lease so it's my understanding it needs to be replaced with an OEM part. Dealer quote was $3500. Looking at the OEM parts diagram it seems like they're trying to charge me for all the associated sensors and electronics. Nothing about this sounds right. However, doing a quick search I don't see that the glass itself is readily available. Any advice would be helpful here.
What does your insurance company say?
Call a auto glas shop and ask them how much to install factory glass, the dealer price is always pumped up. Also if you were near the lease end ask finance when turning in the car how much they would charge you for the fact that it has a cracked windshield. Because years ago I found out while working at the dealer they had set fees for when cars were turned in with cracked glass or bad tires and in one case it was cheaper to just turn the car in rather than replace the glass. These new cars may have sensors that need to be replaced also.
