    94.540i6 dies when warm

    Need some help.
The car runs fine when cold. Once warmed to ot it won't hold an idle. Soon as I need to slow down it shuts down. And will not start for 10 minutes or so. If I drive with the gas peddle down and keep the rpms at 1000 it will get me home. The stomp test says 1221 over and over. Would a 02 sensor cause this?
Where to start? Is this a common problem maybe some of you have had?

O2 sensors will affect idle but not usually to the point that it won't idle at all. Is it running ok at higher RPM? Decent fuel consumption? No black smoke or bad smell? Assuming yes to all three, your O2 sensors are fine. Most likely, you have an intake leak. The symptoms are typical of one, and the M60 is known for leaking intake gaskets in particular (also PCV plate and main intake hose). Best way is a smoke test - either whip out your bong, or borrow a fog machine and get creative, or pay for an actual shop with an actual tech to use an actual smoke tester that costs 10 times what it should. If the intake is airtight, test the fuel pressure. Report back.

Thoroughly clean the IAC, inspect intake boot for tears downstream of the MAF. Check for vacuum leaks.

Ya it runs great as long as you don't let it idle when hot. IAC ?

Ah yes old shakey. I will test and clean it.
Then blow a few grams through the bong.

Looks like my rear main seal is leaking.
    Would that cause a stall?

So just the intake leaks will affect idle. OK
I need to find a fuel psi gauge.

Well, lots of things will affect idle, but a leaking seal is an unlikely source.

Well I killed the battery last night trying to start it. So I am going to start with the fuel pump tonight. Got one from rock auto in 2 days

Killed the battery so ordered a fuel pump?
You did blow a few grams through the old bonger, didn't you?

Yep and no leaks. Now it won't start at all so going with the fuel pump install.
