I've done a couple of searches and haven't returned any results. So here goes.
I have Xenon headlights on my 2006 Z4 3.0si. The left headlight was replaced on December 27, 2014 because it was not working. Now the left headlight intermittently does not work. Would this possibly be because the Igniter or Control Unit is starting to fail? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the help!

You replaced the entire headlight when it stopped working? How do you know it was not just a bulb?
Sounds like it just needs new bulbs to me

I'm digging up a old one here, but I have the same issue. Did you solve it? Was it just a bad bulb?
You can use the bulb and igniter of the opposite side to test. Switch the bulbs first, then the igniters, then the ballast. The problem will follow the defective component wherever it goes!
If none of these components prove defective then it could be the internal wire harness of the headlight, the headlight socket or the ALSZ (LCM).

Thank you
Just make sure to put the cover back on each time. I left mine off one time because I was going back the next day and didn’t want to struggle with the cover more than once. Sure enough it rained that night and my headlight was full of water the next day. The water also got into the ballast which had to be replaced!
