How do I remove this thing from the block without removing the forward fuel injector?? Was replacing the water pump and in taking off the front part of the thermostat housing, one of the four bolts had broken off and “welded” themselves into the back half of the housing. I removed the hoses, three nuts and went to pull....bam, aft side of housing hitting the injector. I don’t want to mess with the fuel rail, if I HAVE to remove it, I need a DIY write up with pictures that detail this, I am afraid I’m going to damage something. I want to remove the housing so I can gain a better vantage point by drilling out that damn little bolt that will not budge with WD-40, powerful vice grips (which just deform what’s left of that screw, now all rounded off), a 1/4” of this rusted bold is in the housing still, it’s the short one on the left side. So frustrated

Found a video on YouTube....looks like this was the beginning of Bmw making it impossible for DIYers. I’m afraid I’m going to damage something getting that rail out

IIRC , just bite the bullet and replace the injector seals while you have them out...I know a pain. Be careful removing the injector clips as it is easy to break the injector connector pieces. Post a picture, I can't recall if the late 3.5 engines had the later easy to remove clips. Crap, IIRC, they have the injection connectors inside that dang plastic covered piece ?
