Advice needed on m50b28 Stroker Turbo Tuning

    Hello everyone.
I will try and and keep this as short as possible for simplicity.

I am from Europe/Balkans, from a small country called Serbia.

    My car started it's life as E36 320i - 1991.
The engine = M50b20 (Non Vanos - NV) OBD I
Guys in the US wont understand , cause i think the smallest US engine is m50b25 or the 2.3 one.
The B20 is just like a m50b25NV just with 2000cc.

Anyway i wont bother you with all the stuff I've done to the car , I'm just gonna talk about the engine.
So the engine is currently finalizing it's conversion into a m50b28 stroker.

    Details:

M50b20 NV Engine block - Bored out to 84mm.
    M52b28 Crank,pistons,rods (Internals)
    M50b25 NV Cylinder Head
    M50b25 NV Intake Manifold
    M50b25 NV Throttle Body
    M50b25 NV DME. OBD I
    New EVERYTHING: Oil/Water pump,Chain,Seals etc.

Idea: I want to slap on a turbo kit on this new engine in the near future.

There is hardly any support for the Non-Vanos DME's.
So my idea is to go with a full standalone VEMS PnP.

    Problem:

The hardware installation is not a problem, there are a lot of decent affordable turbo kit's around.
However, its the software and tuning i have a problem with.

Here in Serbia Custom Tuning companies are rare.
You have a lot of companies offering basic thing's that most people need, but other than that tuners are hard to find, and the ones that do exist are on an extremely bad word.
And i don't trust them to make a good tune for my NEW engine and the setup i would like to make.

I need advice on my options for tuning a turbo setup on the engine.

Who can tune my car outside of serbia?

Do i travel to a different country for a tune, and if so where would i go? Cause it seems most of the custom tuning scene is in the US. (not an option)

Do i get an online custom tune ? And if so, what company/individual does online tuning sessions, and are they even a legit thing, can i get a real tune online without messing up my engine..

Anyway that's basically my question, how do i get the proper tune for my settup without visiting a local tuner who is garbage.

Thank you for all of the answers in advance Bojan.

Bad idea. Cylinder wall between 4/5 cylinder is 1.5mm with 84mm bore.

As stated above, boring a B20 block to 84mm is a bad idea.

Best to just learn to tune it yourself, you don't need professional tuning or a dyno if you are willing to read and put in the work. Otherwise you will just end up having to get it retuned in the future every time you make a change, so you will be much better off it you just learn to do it yourself. If you get it running and tune it without a turbo it will be a very simple step to add a turbo later.

Umm... Cilindar.jpg here is a pic with the m52b28 pistons inside.

Not too sure about that one , dont know where u got that info, but m50b20 and m50b25 engine block's are the same, the only difference is the cylinder diameter.
They were made the same way.
M50b25NV Engines have a 84mm bore from the factory.. and its the same block.
We have lots of m50b28 and m50b30 strokers here and they all work great..

    ,
That is incorrect, the cylinders on the B25 blocks are conjoined in between cylinders and the B20 have a water jacket between cylinders. They are a different casting which is why they have different casting marks on the outside of the block. There is a picture floating around of a B20 block bored to 84mm that has been cut to show the cylinder wall thickness.

Damn. Found the thread. Contacted some local experts, they confirmed the block's are different.

Tough they say the 1.5mm cyl wall is false.

Guess this put's a stop to my turbo plan for now.

Do you have a recommendation on where i could start reading up about this?
    Thank you.

There are lots of good videos on YouTube. Honestly the best way to learn is just to get an ecu and start playing with the settings on the car. It’s not that difficult if you have a good understanding of engines. Many thousands of people do it.
