hello to all
a few weeks ago i purchase a 02 325xi sedan it needs a little tlc. my question is the heat works great, but my only concern is it normal when you park and leave the car idling and after a few minutes the heat feels luke warm.?? until you start driving again.
Could be the thermostat is stuck open If you had a check engine light on and the fault was for thermostat stuck open, well there ya go or if the engine temperature needle is left of 12 o'clock then that would indicate a faulty thermostat. But these gauges are buffed to reduce the amount of needle movement, don't want to freak out the consumer. If neather of those ideals exist, use an infrared heat to red the temps at the upper & Lower hoses, coolant goes into the engine at the lower hose and comes out thru the top hose
also consider the temperature outside. A lot of cars iv driven during the winter do not get all that hot. Especially if youre just idling. If your just sitting at idle blowing super cold air past your heater core its only gonna get so warm. I would say that as you are driving you would get better heat. But as suggested above, DO check your thermostat. Cant imagine you would want to take chances with your engine cooling system since that is what controls the temperature of the heat in your car
Google “BMW E46 hidden OBC functions.” Test #7 will show the coolsntvtemperature as seen by the engine computer (DME). It needs to be in the 95*C-100*C range. If it’s low the thermostat is likely bad. The cooling system is the Achilles heel of the E46. It needs to be kept in tip top shape. Never buy afternoon cooling system parts as you’ll end up with an overheated engine.
Hello guys, my 2009 E90 328i 52 is runing at 112 F / 99 C.

Isn’t that hat too much?

If 203-212F /. 95-100C is s the correct temperature.
(Just below water evaporation temperature)
Coolant Temperatures specifications in proportions are:
50% / 50% ; 228F/ 109C
66% / 33% ; 221F / 105C
so if my car runs at:
212F / 100C at 40 mph
240F / 115C idling
what happens to the coolant and the car above 109C ?
