Ebay Airbag... anyone seen this?

Bought a reconditioned e90 M-sport steering wheel from Romania(ebay). It was a deal which included an Airbag. The steering wheel itself was very nicely re-wrapped, but the Airbag... hmm... well I'll guess it's perfectly normal to make this kind of things in developing countries like Romania. Seems that it's a blown airbag that has been "reconditioned" by changing a new second hand explosive charge(my toughts is there is just a resistor soldered inside to fool the airbag light). The ebay seller is pissed off because of my requisite and the facts I told him, so it seems I have to do an ebay claim. The seller insists that I get a official statement and airbag test from my local BMW dealer. LOL, they would laugh me out of there if I would visit them with an airbag like this. Even a child could see whats wrong with this.

Please share your thoughts of this.

Sorry for your troubles. I've only ever bought one thing from e-bay, and this is why....no recourse.

Try filing the e-bay claim; you have obviously been scammed. That said, well, you bought a "reconditioned" steering wheel from Romania.....

I'd think that it'll be safe, if you don't plug in the airbag.. of course, the plastic paint covering on the cracked cover will look like hell in 6 months anyway.

There's not much to say; you need an airbag and the cover, which will cost a bunch of money. Does the car this is going into even have the correct wiring and programming to accept the steering wheel buttons?

Wiring and programming is not a problem. I agree, the Airbag is just waste, trash, also the airbag cover is toast cracked, so no good. Usually a virgin airbag is the same with the cover, they are not ment to be taken apart.

Ok, seems that this case is now closed for the sellers benefit. So according to ebay it is fully normal and acceptable to sell garbage like this. It was quite awesome I opened a a claim to return the item, seller accepted it sended me a message that you would lose the wheel and money if you send back, then he contacted ebay, and ebay didn't even waited for my respond before the case was closed.

Be aware and stay away from the Airbags this guy is selling, would not be nice to know how many of these are out there in the traffic.

Let's also acknowledge E-Bay's fault here. A good corporation would use their influence to make sure you received a viable product. EBay did not, because they encourage the sale of garbage.

Per BMW, if the driver's airbag has been deployed the steering wheel needs to be replaced.
