    Replacing wiper blades

I purchased a set of new OEM wiper blades for my 1990 325i convertible because the old ones were rusted. They won't go on the wiper arms. The piece that slides into the bend is too wide. The part I ordered is 61 61 1 387 678.

do you mean that plastic clip ? wiper blades usually come with a couple different sets of those clips for different mounts / systems. your originals were probably swapped out for a generic set years ago. grab any set from an auto parts store in the proper lengths and they will come with a couple different set of clips. one of them will work. i've only ever replaced blades with aftermarket and never run into an issue on any car, domestic or foreign.

geez we're down to questions on wiper blades..

My vert isn't a daily driver so I'm trying to keep it as OEM as possible. It was just odd to me that the OEM parts didn't fit.

all wiper blades are generic. bmw does not manufacture them. they are all made by a third party and the mounting systems are interchangeable between cars by law for safety reasons.

Future reference, use Valeo/SWF 800 series wipers. PN 800201 for the both sides of an e30.

I've found the single curve type wipers to both function and last better than the older style. Have you tried any of those?

I considered the Bosch Icons, but I decided not to go for the modern look.

I have and weren't all that thrilled. Those Valeos are reasonably cheap so I can change them out fairly often. The e30 ones are an 8 point contact and do the best job I've found of following the windshield curvature at the far right edge.
