Car is a 1996 328i. The PO decided it would be a good idea to swap in the M3 cluster at some point. However, all the instruments are “off”.
-the speedo reads 5-10 mph low
-the tach is definitely off by about 500 revs
-fuel gauge reads high all the time (yikes!)
-temp gauge reads slightly to the right at temperature. I installed a backup Autometer water temp gauge.
I’ve played around in INPA using the KOMBI function but can’t seem to do anything useful. The test function works, I can get all gauges/warning lights to activate and sweep.
Does the cluster need to be recoded somehow? Has anyone else had this issue with an M3 cluster swap? I suppose I could just go grab an original 328i cluster from the boneyard, but this has been bugging me from the day I bought the car, has to be a way to recalibrate the cluster so it works right.
Figured I’d just throw this out there for anyone who might have an idea or seen it before. Thx

You should poke around NCS Expert program, along with NCS Dummy helper program. Yes, this is for recoding.
