2013 X3 3.5 xdrive with 80K. Just had water pump replaced. Right after the dealer replaced it I just had a few things happen:
1) smoke inside cabin and coming out of hood. Opened it and smoke was gone but I found oil on the left side of the engine (looking into the engine bay) around rear spark plug area. Happened twice but no more now
2) there is now a distinct whining/hissing sound on acceleration/deceleration - definitely more so on deceleration. Sounds like pressure being let out?
3) threw a warning that radiator fluid was dangerously low and stop driving immediately and fill. I did - it took A LOT of fluid. Why would it need any right after the dealer replaced water pump would they have replaced the fluid?
Help.
Thanks
I would have been on the phone immediately with that dealership,
asking precisely what was done in addition to replacing water pump,
and describing the new symptoms that seem to be cooling system related.
You should at least obtain an explanation for what happened.
I would request it be towed back to them at their expense.
Now if they recommended additional cooling system parts replacement,
that they determined was needed in addition to the water pump,
and you refused, then that's on you.
Either they left something loose or some plastic coolant system part broke
