You can actually remove the MID display without removing the radio first, by using a couple of thin plastic shims or putty knives. However it is much easier with the radio out first. But I have no idea how you would remove that radio. I’m guessing it’s released by putting shims in on the sides to release some kind of clasp, but that’s just a guess.

Yeah, mine does not have the little doors on the side of the MiD that open and reveal the set screws. That’s the problem I’m trying to resolve.
I have a set of the shim tools on order. I’ll try them next weekend.

It Tim, dont your directions (which are terrific by the way) presume that the radio has the little access doors on the side. Open those little doors, unscrew the Allen bolt, then remove the radio. My radio does not have those little doors.
