German audio tech has been doing it for years and offers a lifetime warranty. Both these places are hard to get a hold of. German audio tech only answers through their eBay, and BavTek is just some guys cell phone that calls you back when he feels like it or in my case, not at all.

I did use BavTek and he had the MID repaired and shipped out day after he received it from me. I think I had better luck texting him but he also had a website where you can send an email. Turnaround time for me was ten days.

Keep them coming! Thanks! I have not pulled by MID yet. I see "ribbon" repair in my research. Is this "all inclusive" with either/both vendors? I have some MID pixels out, some faded "bulbs" and now no clock at all.

Tomas replaced the ribbon and the four bulbs in my MID. Works fine now but it didn't before, could only see some vertical lines and some dashes.

    IMG_20180122_160210926.jpg

BTW, it was easy to remove but I needed a 5-sided key to loosen the two screws holding radio in place. I could not get a small screwdriver or smaller hex key to work so I bought the tools on amazon for about $6.

I had three replacement MID's years ago when BMW would pay for part of the cost and all three failed within a year or so. I then sent one to German Audio Tech in 2012 and it has been perfect since.

Yes, BMW did mine under recall about 10 years ago...now it needs it again.

Thank you! And the order is on the way. Now where is this shop in Long Beach that repairs them(the MID)?

order it through the eBay link, it is $25 cheaper than if you go to their site...

Removing the radio first makes MID removal very easy.

I used German Audio Tech a number of years ago for my on board computer and everything is still working perfectly. Very happy with the results.

The MID and my radio both have display problems. I want to senE774F776-9028-479D-9E7F-9AFA403193D2.jpgd to German Audio Tech. But I don’t know how to remove them from the dash. Also, can anybody tell me which radio this is? I have a remote 6y disc change in the trunk, too.
    Thanks, Zeke
