    SMG Cog light isn't on but scanner picked up a bunch

    I was looking at 02 SMG E46 M3 (118K Miles) yesterday and I was using Schwaben/Foxwell Scanner.The cog wheel light wasn't on nor blinking (no CEL either) during my 15-20 minutes drive and about 20 minutes sitting idles. Test drove was fine, SMG was fully functioning. I did, however, picked up a bunch of SMG codes from the scanner.

    Code 17: Activation, solenoid valve, clutch (OBDII P1740)
    Code 3B: Acuation, Cluch, Dynamic.
    Code 61: Voltage Supply.
    Code 32: Selection Angle Can't engage (OBDII P1758)
    Code 38: ON period, hydraulic unit (OBDII P1717)

    What's you guys thought on these?

    If you don't know when or how old those codes are, just take note, clear and go for a drive. If anyone of them come back I would worry.

    While I like the Foxwell scanner, I don't know a lot about them. Do you get more info on the codes like milage when populated? Or maybe frequency or code counts if it had happened more than once?

    A couple of those codes can be caused by a new battery.

    To be honest, I just got the Scanner and been using it for 6-8 times looking at E36/E46 M3. It does more than my Peake does for sure. Slowly, I'm learning the capability of the scanner. So far this is an awesome scanner. This along with Quick Jack, I can be more efficient of selecting which car should I do PPI.

    If you are serious on getting the car, than a PPI is a must. Anytime you are going to pay over 10k for a car, a 120-140 dollar PPI is a bargaining chip.

    The scanner helps in a way for you to see what is going on, and perhaps an idea if you really want to by the car.

    I decided to get an 01 manual 6 speed for $1000 more with less miles with sub frames reinforcement and rod bearing recalled already. Will need Vanos lock down eventually but they all do eventually.
