    2003 540i/6 M Sport For Sale

    SOLD

    Sad day but I am putting my e39 540i/6 M Sport up for sale. One of the best sport sedans ever made and one of the rarest. The official M Sport e39 was only available in 2003 and only 600 where made with a 6 speed manual trans. This car has over 30k in maintenance receipts going back 10 years. All major seals have been changed, cooling system has been changed, timing chain/guides have been changed. It needs nothing.

    New front bumper
    New headlights
    BMW sport comfort seating option
    Reupholstered steering wheel

    Little off topic. What prompted you to change the guides? I have the exact same car (with grey leather) and 120k miles. Thinking I want to sell the car before dealing with the guides. Did the guides let go or was it preemptive?

    Preemptive maintenance. It's a known issue and I don't want to have a problem with the car so it was done.

    Clean-looking car - silver on black is so classic for E38s and E39s. Good deal with the guides having already been changed, GLWS.

    Just out of curiosity, were those Sport Contour seats an option from the factory on the 540i M-Sport? Never seen them on an E39.

    2003 540i Sport - 6 Spd.
    As a fellow '03 540/6 owner TitanSilver/Black, I can appreciate all you've put into your car. I've had mine for 11 years, and I just decided to dump in a lot of money (WAAAAY too much money) to get everything ready for the next 100k miles. It would appear you've dealt with all the major issues and really made the car your own. What led to your deciding to sell the car?

    I'm envious of the comfort sport seats, having heard they're a very good upgrade, seating-wise. Did you find them much more comfortable that the stock sport seats? I also noted the European armrest -- nice.

    Also, I just added 10mm spacers front and rear, and it appears you're running spacers, too. I had to roll the rear fenders, and even then, I still have some rubbing on the fender liner on the right rear. What did you do to cope with rubbing issues? Did you roll the fenders, too? Did you cut the fender liners to eliminate rubbing?
