Here are a few Ford Blues.
I’m with Philly, we need some flakes with that dark Ford Blue !!

Snotty, OG is a possibility. Not going to do a 2 tone Nate.
Manny, that blue is very close to what I saw on the '53 in the museum, it might have looked darker because it was inside.
That blue is my top pick so far.
Philly, no metallic. Too much of a PITA to re-spray and have a good match when fixing rock chips, etc. (which unfortunately will happen).
Finally got a lift in the garage, not as nice as yours Brian, but it only cost me $8.00, yes 8 bucks. Got 8 lag bolts (2 per strap) screwed into the trusses.
I was wrong about the body weight, it's around 50 lbs.

Nate, OK the inside caramel would look nice. However the interior came with the car, it's all black.
Been drilling and tapping holes all day yesterday, got the firewall in.
Today I mounted to fuse panel and thought about starting to run the wiring but didn't get far. I then decided to marry the engine and tranny.
Will do the wiring tomorrow.

What's the scoop on those headers Jim?
Thad, don't remember the place I bought them from but a quick search brought up this site. Prices are all over the map so check around.

I bought the Ceramic coated ones (p/n 40200), you can get chrome, ceramic coated, or stainless steel.
Just pick out which one in the Options and additional price will be shown.
Update:At the time I bought them from ?? they were $420 with a 10% rebate.
Here's the BBK website.

I wish I could find the picture of a 53 Ford Deluxe I took at a show near me last year.
The color was a beautiful dark blue (stock for that year) with some gold trim.
That would look great on yours.
I think this was the color,
53 ford crestline.jpg
Look! Before our very eyes, the future is becoming the past.
That may be the color.
Did some wiring today, this is only part of it. Still need to get the engine and tranny wire strung.
Hope to get the engine/tranny in next week.

Note the dual master cylinders, one for the front calipers and another for the rear calipers.
There is a balance bar adjustment to adjust front to rear braking bias sort of like a proportioning valve.

Nice progress. Balance bar keeps it simple!
Now that you been working with this kit for a bit, how is the quality and fit seem so far? Pics look great.

The quality is very good. Just a few problems mostly due to the heavy powder coating that got into the ID of the suspension mounting holes. The 1/2" and 5/8" bolts wouldn't fit thru them, had to take a rat tail file to clean them out.
Some missing or wrong parts which Factory Five took care of.
The install manual is a little over 700 pages, I'm on page 190.
700?! That’s like all of the Lord of the Rings! I hope a lot of that is illustrations.

The index is 4 pages long. There are plenty of helpful pics and drawings. If you know how to turn a wrench, have a lot of tools, a half decent electrical background, and a lot of time it's a fun project. Oh, and some deep pockets to buy a lot of the options and use all new parts.
I picked up the engine lift this afternoon, the engine is off the shipping pallet. Should be in the car tomorrow.
Yesterday I finished all the brake lines, got the engine off the shipping pallet, and installed it.
So much easier to roll the chassis into the engine than to push the engine into the chassis.
After the engine was installed the chassis was a bear to roll around.
Today I put the driveshaft in. Still need to modify the rear tranny mount, the one that comes with the car is really for a Ford.

Nice work... I prefer my cars to be already assembled, but more power to you! You should drag it next to a M5 for comparison once you're finished to provide for some (mandatory) E39 content lol.
Holy $h** Jim... you’re my hero! Can’t wait to see what u do with it ! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Put a built over driven blower on it... still way cooler than any LS... speaking of LS... the Mercury SB4 is what we all always wished the LS was from the get go... a DOHC LS7 basically... mercury pulled the DOHC head off their 9.0L marine race motor, shrunk it down and stuck it on an LS7, good for 700HP of natural aspiration happiness... turn key swap for the low low price of well, what it costs 🤷🏼*♂️... I wanna put one of these in an E38 E39 E46 E53 E34 E36 and anything else I can find... it’s $$$ tho... and the AM / parts in general Scene is limited... but... I can dream... maybe Jim will use it 🧐 http://www.mercuryracing.com/mercury...-crate-engine/

Saw the Mercury review in HotRod magazine last year, fantastic engine. Would be nice to have 750HP but in a 2400Lb car I'd probably kill myself. What I have now is a bit over the top.
That engine probably costs more than my whole build.
