Think I'll paint it either black or a 1953 Ford dark blue, forgot the name of the color but I know where a pickup is with this color.

Yeah, those look like late model Ford brakes. I hate those spring e-brake things.
The gel coat is pretty clean, but it really needs to be painted. If it was going to be a rat rod I'd just slap on a quick coat of paint and call it a day.
Yup, Ford brakes, the fronts are 2015 Mustang GT. Backs are just a regular Mustang. StopTech pads all around.
e-brake setup could be better, but at least there aren't inside shoes for the e-brake.

I gotta get it together first, but as you know we can never have too much HP. It's in our DNA.
Then maybe a 100 shot and I'll be needing a better tranny.

With that car being so light Jim, it will be interesting to see what that 4L65 can handle. Might be quite a lot.

It's rated for something like 425 ft-lbs IIRC, but that's in a regular car that will weigh at least 1000 lbs more than mine.

Got the diff in tonight, what a PITA job that was, me and the floor jack.

Tough times we live in when it is so ridiculously easy to make power that even a brand new, reasonably stout transmission is at risk!

So what kind of a diff is that, good old 8.8?

    Yup, an 8.8.
Could have got a 9.0 but it was a lot more money.

Guess it'll be doing a LOT of jumping.
Finished with all the rear suspension tonight. So nice to work on something new, no rust or corrosion.
Tomorrow I'll mount the rear rotors, brakes, and the rear braided brake lines. Then start on the front suspension.
Finally got a car with coilovers.

That's gotta be a really strange sensation, huh? I wouldn't have a clue.

So what is that rear upright/knuckle from? Everything looks beautiful.

Looking real cool already Jim! Did you get the hoops yet? Been trying to picture which rims I’d go with if I was building it. Have you looked at the Budnik line of wheels? Pricey stuff, but man! Nice stuff!

Was going to do their Cobra kit years ago but found an RX7 swap project cheap. Turns out it would have been cheaper doing the FF5 Cobra.

The wheel carrier/knuckle is from a Mustang GT IIRC.
Didn't get a lot done today, just the rear rotors and calipers mounted.
Will start the front suspension tomorrow.
A few guys stopped in today with a present for the garage. So we had to start filling it up....my excuse for not doing much.

Nate, my current oven isn't big enough for them.
I did spray them with clear acrylic to keep them from oxidizing.

Steve, I'm thinking American Racing hoops. Their Torque Thrust II wheels.
    Either 17 or 18".

I'll take a look at Budnik.

Those wheels are exactly what I was imagining for that beast, Jim! So yummy... Gonna need some big meats on the rear, and an amply wide stance on the front to hit the look just right. You'll get it right I'm sure.

I was noticing those knuckles looked a bit shiny for bare alum. Looking great so far. I see only 7 beer caps in the new art piece. Pick up the pace.

I'd stick with 17 inchers. Too big and they can kinda look like an early 00s Boyd Coddington car. Which, IMO, isn't great; a lot more show than go.

Plus, sidewall is your friend for a street driven car.

I'm thinking some 315's on the back, probably 245's on the front.

Nate, I wouldn't go any bigger than 17", the prices for the wheels starts taking off at 17" and climbs pretty quick.

Holy guacamole, I get busy for a couple weeks and drop out and miss everything. Looks great Jim! Man the idea of working with all clean new parts is like a dream... The poor 540 is gonna be the weaksauce garage mate when this whole project is finished!

By the way - love the idea of the dark blue. Black is classic but boring unremarkable obvious undistinctive. Maybe a super dark blue that almost looks black would be good tho'. Carbon black kinda deal. In fact... how about BMW carbon black?
