I have a 1995 bmw e34 540i 6 speed. I ordered a new stock flywheel. And heard something about being able to use an m5 clutch kit on it? Is this true?? Help!
You either use all E34 bits or all E39 M5 bits. You can't mix as they have different size flywheel and clutch discs.
The point of using the e39 m5 clutch is that it's sprung if I'm not mistaken, as is the stock e34 FW. That would be ultra smooth haha. The point is the heavy dual mass FW on the e34 kinda is a bummer

So it is ok to use the e39 m5 clutch kit with the e34 dmfw? I have mixed opinions lol
No the clutch on the e39 is 240mm the e34 is 265mm
I'm doing this swap right now and after reading through a bunch of posts I went with the e39 M5 clutch kit by LUK from Rock Auto and the LWFW (e39 M62 lite) from TTV Racing in the UK. Several positive reviews from others and also one of the least expensive set ups available. Win, win.

Let me know how you like it, I'm undecided on brand but for the clutch I was looking at spec stage 3
So more holding capacity, same friction material, more street able but only 300+ more dollars
