I have a 2012 750Li. Today I changed the plugs and used Bosch ZR5TTPP33. I took care to open and close all the clips well and the coils were all in good shape. All the covers and sensor connectors are fine.
I dropped one of the new sparks and even though I re gap to 0.32 it did not work since the engine srarted rattling. So, I changed it and used one of the old ones that was in good shape. The motor runs fine and I get better acceleration.
Why is the light not going away? Would it be that the computer does not like one old spark plug mixed with the new ones? Could this be reset? How to do that? I can go to Oreily’s have them read it for me.
I will buy a new spark llug on Monday. My store did not have it in stock.
Annoying.
Go to oriely and have them read the code(s) and report back here. Erase the codes and drive it some to see if the check engine light will return.
If you are going to purchase or own a BMW,
a BMW specific scan tool able to read&clear BMW error codes is a
NECESSARY ACCESSORY!!
A generic scan/clear performed at O'Reilly,AutoZone,...etc.,
will clear generic OBD2 code along with associated warning lights,
unless problems causing errors/faults were not resolved,
or still present in BMW computer modules.
Check your work make sure every thing is plugged in. Number one rule about working on cars if the problem wasn't there before you worked on the car and it is after you work on it, check your work
