Hi
Answered my own question, MSport suspension is a 15 mm height reduction so standard shocks are OK.

From my understanding, MSport shocks/struts are not the same as standard,
in dimensions or part#'s!

It's been awhile since I owned my z3,
but I think I recall correctly.
Yes they have a different part numbers. Only OE are available at silly prices, no after market ones. I was looking at the impact of fitting standard shocks/struts. Since the difference in ride height is only 15 mm, I concluded that standard shocks/struts would be OK.

Yes,theoretically ok,
but in practicality,
a much shorter service life,
as you shall soon see.
M and non-M struts are mostly interchangeable, the key difference is non-M sway bars connect to the control arm whereas M sway bars connect to the strut. Thus, you can use either type of strut on a non-M, but an M requires an M strut.
Should be fine using the non-sport suspension on a sport Z3 model as well. No reason to expect a decrease in part life...
