This is going to sound retarded but how do these little square bump stops orient on the slot? As you can see the hole is offset from the center. Both of mine were missing so I have no proper reference.
i think they are designed that way so you can adjust the hood height at the back.
Ah I see. So just kinda rotate em around till I like it.
I’m not so sure that the orientation doesn’t matter. The correct hood height should be adjusted using the 2, 10mm hinge bolts, not these things. I see these as simply rubber dampers/cushions. I believe the correct orientation is with the longer sides of the rectangle oriented horizontally with the resultant two thinner parts facing upwards (towards the hood) and towards the outside (hinge arm).
So in the top photo, it would have to be re-oriented counter-clockwise 90 degrees for placement on the bottom photo nipple (drivers side). This results in a snug fit with least amount of distortion. I’ve founds that placing the thicker side upward (against the hood) or orienting the rectangle vertically causes the thing to get overly squashed over time and eventually fall out. YMMV.

Thank you so much. Oddly enough I was playing with them and that was the orientation I liked most.
i have heard alot of e31s have issues with the wiper rubbing on the back of the hood and the missing bump stop is the cause of it,
so that led me to believe that it does effect the hight of the hood.
That very issue is what led me to check if I had them or not. And I did not. So I guess we’ll see.
