Update!!!!
I have an S52 motor with a rebuilt top end. Thought I had a broken valve spring but after further inspection nothing was wrong. Freshened her up while I had her apart. Had all the carbon build up cleaned off. Reseated the valves. New head gasket and now she's ready for another 140,000 miles with no issues. Comes with wiring harness, intake, motor mounts, and whatever else I have. $1750 obo
Below is the original post from before I had the time to open her up.
I have an s52 with 144,000 miles on it.
Here's the info
It does have a broken valve spring.
As I was driving the car and decelerating, there was a loss of power and it shut off. When I restarted it, there was a metallic rattling from the front of the engine. I immediately shut it off and had it flatbedded to a a friends shop.
We decided to replace rather than rebuild. After it was out, I disassembled it. I removed the head and that’s when I found the broken valve spring in the #1 cylinder. From what I could see without taking the head further apart, the valves were not bent. But that will have to be verified.
The block, crank, and cylinders all checked out fine upon visual inspection. Oil pan was clean.
Make me a reasonable offer and it can be yours lol.
Also open to trades. Could use new shocks and struts for my lowered E46 330 convertible. Also planning an ls swap so anything related to that.

Hi, any damage visible to the piston ? Any offers yet ? Ty
Sorry forgot to update the post. I had time and ended up rebuilding the top end. Have photos. Nothing wrong with the pistons or anything. Asking $1750 obo. It's basically drop in ready. If you want the full info on the rebuild and what not message me. As of right now, I have an offer of $1450.
