    Sway bar install tip

Thanks to all the info on this forum, I installed new control arms and tie rods on my 82 320i. In most of the posts on this subject, lining up the sway bar/control arms with the frame bolt holes was a two man job.

I attempted the project solo and discovered that once all the prelim work was completed, the sway bar/control arm could be positioned surprisingly easily by using a come-along attached to each end of the sway bar, just behind the front washers. The washers keep the come-along hooks in place and the sway bar can be compressed while the control arms are tapped into alignment with the holes in the frame.

It worked very well for me and I wanted to share it.

I probably didn’t need the front strap but it didn’t hurt having it on there.

I've used a ratchet strap with good success.
