Yesterday I started getting an error "404 Not Found" & "The requested URL /forums/showthread.php was not found on this server."
Yet http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ says the site is up and running.
I've tried connecting to B-fest's top level page, i.e. bypassing my bookmarks to E39 forums, but still no luck.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Regards
RDL
Works for me as well...
Off topic, but bf.c users, how much time do you spend here vs. there? I find that I rarely go to the "other place".
Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I've got a problem of some sort.

Yes...I've been having issues with Bimfest, too. Sometimes everything works...but sometimes when I click on a thread to read...I get an error notice. Then sometimes I can open the thread...then when I go to post a reply...it won't take it. Then there's some really weird happenings when it appears there are posts within the thread that are off topic and seem to be from another thread.
If I refresh my browser it will sometimes fix the issue...but then sometimes it doesn't. I'm having issues on my desktop using the Firefox browser and on my Samsung Note's android browser (using the desktop version).

I don't even have an account over there, lol. Is there a point in the other site?

I must be a forum whore because I jump around to multiple e38/e39/e53/e70/and f06 forums all day & all night long...I find them all interesting. Each forum has it's own personality and cast of "characters". You'll find some of the same people on multiple forums...and then you have some members that are really knowledgeable in a singular area or multiple areas on one forum that you learn/glean from that can help you on other forums:
- Bimfest
- BimForums
- Xoutpost
- BimBoard
- Xbimmer

I like to visit e46fanatics because the sixes have a lot in common with those in the e39.
Anyway, that aside, I just tried b'fest and it wouldn't connect until I edited the url to point only to the top of the forum page. The site is also now not accepting secure urls (like bimmerforums). Tried e46fanatics, same problem .... Not sure what's going on but most of the old shortcuts I have no longer work. Did some sort of security policy change?
Thanks again to all for the replies. My problem persists in spite of an hour and half on the phone with my ISP's help desk. They're stumped for now, have referred it to their tech specialists and promised to get back to me on Monday.
Meantime, would someone please do another favour - run a trace route to determine B-fest's IP address from your computer. I'm hypothesizing that the DNS I'm sent to may have an issue and sending me to the wrong location. I've tried using the IP address that my computer returns (50.97.177.83) but get another error message. So, I'm wondering if someone else might get another IP.
You'd need to open a command prompt box with the "run as administrator" option.
Then type the command: tracert bimmerfest.com
The whole thing should take no more than a minute.
In the attached image the command is highlighted with a red arrow pointing at it. The IP is in the yellow ellipse.
I don't need an image back, just the IP that you see in the result.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Oops attached wrong image - no yellow ellipse

I can access bimmerfest with the usual url, but not having luck with any of various numeric IP addresses.
When I use that 50.97.177.83 address in the chrome browser, it reaches a server that only has the default "It works" index file that Apache servers show before the /www folder has any other content.
In chrome's address bar, entering "chrome://net-internals/#dns" shows me a long list of data including IPs for websites the browser has recently accessed, including bimmerfest, but the IP I get for that (130.211.45.108) returns "Server doesn't exist" when I try to use it in chrome's url bar.
I also tried to find the url using chrome's more tools > developer tools > network console, but not smart enough to figure it out that way.

I have made some progress, at least as far as diagnostics go. This morning I visited my brother in a nearby city with my laptop. He uses the same ISP as I do yet I'm able to connect to B-fest without an instant's delay. With a little luck that will help my ISP's tech support folks when they call me tomorrow on the promised follow-up call.
Anyway, since we're a long way from anything E39 let along BMW related, I suggest we let this thread die a natural death rather than clutter up the forum.
And again, thanks to all for your assistance.
