Running Both Aftermarket NAV and MID? What works?

Wondering if one hooked up both an aftermarket audio/nav system (IE Dynavin or similar) and then hooked up the MID. Would it be possible to change the radio with the MID still? I know most people do this to retain OBC functions. I want to be able to activate the radio (change stations and volume) with the MID as well. Would be really neat. Would one have to code for a rear MID or get some program (Intravee II or Resler Interface)?

    Thanks!

I have an aftermarket head unit/nav fitted and I have the mid in the glove box don't know if it can control the head unit but I can change volume, tracks etc by steering wheel controls.

I'm specifically asking if the MID itself can still control the radio functions. Would be awesome if it could.

    Hi,

If you have an aftermarket head unit like a Dynavin/Avin or a quality item from the likes of Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc then all 'control' of it can be done on the unit itself and where fitted/connected, via steering wheel buttons. What's the point of having the MID panel volume/DSP/change radio stations ? it'd be pointless, just reach up a few inches higher and control on the head unit ! Of course, technically once you work out how to interface the MID panel to the specific head unit be it electronically, physically and most likely a combination of both, you could have this setup. It's likely to cost a big wedge of cash too! I'd estimate north of $1000 to have someone with experience of reverse engineering and electronic integration do it.

    Cheers, Dennis!

I actually want to install a rear armrest MID so rear passengers can get radio control. That's why I'm asking. Kenny1958, does your glovebox MID control the radio? If not, I wonder if Intravee or Resler will enable it to communicate through the IBUS correctly? Anyone know?

Thanks for checking. I guess I'm hoping that Resler or Intravee will make it work. Will ask around to people that have done this mod before.
