hallo. a problem with my 728i with s-edc suspension.
in the factory 728 had s-edc + sls suspension, but the former owner changed the rear dampers with some new ones but without sdec.eu we put back dampers with s-edc, but without sls, and now the suspension is very durable ,not working. can you help me with some advice, what can I do? thank you.
The EDC suspension is electrical...all of the dampers have electrical connectors going to them and are under the control of an EDC control module....which constantly receives data from a couple of acceleration sensors and steering angle sensor. Make sure all of those things are in place and in working order.
{Depending on model/model year...the EDC control module may be up front behind the glovebox (on LHD e38s)...and not in the rear trunk area}
The SLS (rear self leveling suspension) on the e38 is a hydraulic/mechnical system and the rear accumulators actually do the heavy lifting of the rear suspension...with the coil springs and shocks performing an ancillary function. If you replace the SLS suspension...then different types of shocks and coil springs are required since the hydraulic system is no longer supporting the rear of the car.

what testing software should I need?
I solved. EDC computer was defective!
Thanks
Hello again. I changed the EDC module, I made 30 km across the city and 70 km outside, and this module broke down. Is there a problem with the machine that fails the EDC modules?
Without diagnostics (INPA will do the job) you will not know if the module is the problem - or something else in the system. The system is quite complicated with a number of external sensors - here's the full information:

I want to fix the EDC module! do I find somewhere a schema with the value of the pieces in the module to check them? thank you nicely.
There are no diagrams for any of the modules that I have ever seen. How do you know that the module is the problem?

this circuit circulates the current in both directions
Sorry. That image resolution is too low to be readable.
What error are your getting?

This is what I see when I click on the photo you uploaded:
Anyway, thanks for the new picture. I had the same error. I replaced the EDC control unit and that fixed my issue. YMMV.
Issue solved.
It was a damaged shock absorber. After regeneration everything is ok.

Nice! Hows the ride? Loving it?

Which one? I ask, because I have seen a similar error. Your picture mentioned error code 02 24, I have error code 01 24:

Due to the error message about the control unit being defective, I have sourced a replacement control unit. I just haven't been able to get time to work with my mechanic to get it coded properly and installed.
Yes. Now it's a nice ride.
Driving is very pleasant now
The most important thing is to check the shock absorber resistances.
This is measured on the plug from them. There are 3 pins:
- 2 for coils (soft, medium)
- 1 common (minus)
There must be a transition between them. If there is no one, EDC crashes errors.

Interesting. I believe the E38 rear suspension came in SLS, SLS+EDC, and neither SLS or EDC variations; I guess I was a bit dense in thinking EDC was therefore a configurable option for the rear; but it makes sense that if EDC is present, it would be both on front and rear and again if EDC is present, then the control module would be there. Makes much more sense to me now. :-) OK, cool, I will find time to swap the module this week and see what happens. Think it should be mostly straight-forward as the module is believed to be located behind the glove box area on my 2001 car.
