Just checking in.
Just bought a 1986 735i, and will be picking up once the roads clear around here.
History: One the car is one owner and only 34K.
Full records, has been a family friend for over 30 years. When my Dad retired in 86 and moved to Ohio, he was washing his 528i in the driveway. Up pulls up a big black 735, and a long friendship was formed. Both dads and sons!
When his dad died in 98, my friend parked it. Hasn't seen a winter since.
I did mention once a few years ago I was interested, then forgot about it.
Last weekend he said he is ready, and at a price that was not sumin' to pass up!
Every other year a full service is done, and he takes it out 12 or so times a year.
I am Really looking to picking it up!
Trying to get as much info on this thing I can.
Why no Bentley manuals and such on this model?
No having much luck finding anything.
Well, thanks for reading, I'll be back with photos when I get it home.
What in the world did I get myself into?
Later!
www.e38.org/e23 will get you a pile of good and broken links to projects. The bmw manual, who needs a bentley is available at https://www.bmwtechinfo.com/repair/main/397en/index.htm
No, we're not taking a quick bomb in and tell us then Later. you gotta post some pics.
I was going down this weekend, so I will take some shots.
Thanks for the links, all I could find is broken ones......
most of the internal links should work, the ones to bimmerboard threads. External links, well who can keep track of all those sites. Webarchive can I think but still not all of them will be found.
If you have the BMW manual, the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual) and a Bentley (it is the same drivetrain as the E28 and many other things) you will have what you need to get the work done on the car. I'm sure you will be verifying the last maintenance and all other work to see that the Inspection II has been done recently and that the brake fluid and coolant have been changed.
Thanks for the info on the ETM and e28 manuals.
Saturday morning I'm going to look it over.
Full report and photos Saturday night.
Yessssssss, we love pictures.
I make E23 parts.

Ford, MB, and GM round out the pack.
Damn, got a call from the seller last night. He backed out of our verbal agreement.
He had talked to his brother, and his brother went ballistic.
I know the family well enough, and something is up. If his brother gets the car, it will not be a pretty ending for this car....Damn.
I'll lay low for a bit and hope things change....
and keep my eyes pealed.
Sorry guys, but thanks for all the advice.
Welcome! Hope it all works out. Even if you don't get the car, stick around & soak up some knowledge.
