    NEED ADVICE - TOTALED 2011 BMW 335i - 52K Miles

Need everyones advice on the next steps I should do here

Bought a 2011 BMW 335i with 52,000 miles on it. Very good condition and clean title.

Son took it out and totaled the car and I did not buy full coverage for the car and just had limited liability.

Now I have a totaled BMW sitting in my garage since insurance would not give me anything for it.

What are my next options, the engine should be good still but too scared to turn it on. I just want some money back

    1) Part it out and sell parts (seats, tires, etc)
    2) Sell it to junkyard
    3) Sell Engine - 52K Miles on it
    4) Fix it at auto-body shop (if even possible)

Why would you not have full coverage on that car? Wow. That's shocking.

Maybe you can recoup some money by parting it out.

I totaled two x5’s. One was hit on the opposite side of yours it wasn’t repairable, looked just like that. We sold it to a junkyard. Then I got in a 2010 x5 and ran through a wire fence off the freeway. Everything was straight but the paint job and a little body work was whopping 20,000. We traded it in to a dealer for a 2012 x5. Everyone is probably going to tell you sell it to a junk yard.

See what a junkyard will give you. If it’s too low you can part it out. There are a lot parts that weren’t affected by the crash.

Before it was wrecked it was worth $11-12K or so as a trade in. I'm guessing you already know the cost of the damages. Deduct the repair costs and a couple grand more to make it worth someone's while and advertise it on Craigslist.
A part out will bring the most $ if you have the stomach for it. Perhaps make the boy do this as penance.
    That's a big hit, I wouldn't want it repaired.

    It is not repairable.

Parting it out will yield the most profit but take the most time and effort. Maybe list it for sale on a local craigslist or facebook BMW group and see if some locals would buy it for somewhere betweeen junk value and parts car value.

Try a BMW specialist salvage company. Bavarian Auto Recycling is right there in Sacramento.

Fixing it won't make economic sense, but it could be worth it if you like the car and want to keep it long term. It's worth getting a couple of quotes.
