Ok so I just replaced the fuel pump on my bmw e38. I noticed there was low gas so I added some gas even correctly into the area where the fuel pump sits. (5 liters on right side 20 on left checked with the obc) I have 3 batteries for the car. Well actually 2 but yeah. The first battery came with the car. it doesn't hold it's charge very well so I decided to grab a new battery. Before I changed the fuel pump I swapped out the relays from my 7 series and went to my totaled 5 series and snagged a fuel pump relay. The light green one. Plugged it in with a new battery and tried to start but still didnt. So I went under the hood of the 7 series and replaced the red fuel pump fuse. Car seemed to work better when trying to start but still a fail. So I went out and bought some starter fluid
So now I have the starter fluid a freshly new charged battery and jumper cables on the car. I have a friend spray the fluid in while I tried to start. It fired up or at least tied to and it would show alot better result then before. It actually almost started up fully. So I thought it had to be the fuel pump. I ordered a new pump and filter because why not. Just installed the filter and added the gas but now my battery are dead but not all the way. Shouldn't the new pump work even when in position 2. I litterly looked at the pump while it was in the housing and watched it as my friend cranked the car but the pump made no noise nor moved or nothing. So right now I'm charging up the battery so later on tonight I can give it a try. No check engine light nothing. Would a pump not work if the battery isn't fully charged? I could really use help I'm so close to getting it started or at least feel like I am. Please help
