Me and boobazz, needed a car because we didn't want to keep making payments on a used car. The shop has a '02 BMW 530i and a '08 Focus wagon. Not knowing how many rare options the BMW had, we bought it. [/QUICKIMG]
It has minor issues, but I'm not a rookie on maintenance or repair, I might need help with electrical, because I hate working it electric. Anyway, this E39 has a M54 with a steptronic trans; m sport & premium package options (yes, two options). 150k+on the dash, but this a guaranteed to go 300k+miles when maintain. But all that minor, I'm gonna put it for sale after paint in July. You'll be able to put a classic plate in it by 2020. So find one while you can.
what?
also i'm sure i'm not going to be the first person to say this but unless it's a 2003 540i it's not an m-sport
My 2001 540 is a true M Spurt.... from the factory even, fur real!!!

The US market's 2003 e39 540i M-sport:
All the other e39 model years (with automatic transmissions) from 1998-2002 were just M sport "packages" that included various options based on model year. And then the e39 540i/6 (from 1997-2002 were also "dedicated" sport models that also included special "sport" options that also varied by model year).

Yeah, everyone else in Europe got all of the best options. I wish this car was available here (and in LHD of course)... I hope she goes to a good home!

Continental Europe got all the fun
ive had a '00 523 Manual, 2x '03 525, one iA one manual and 3 '01's 530i Manuals, all full M-Sport with the aero pack and all.
The UK didnt get some of the pre-facelift ones like the 523 in full M-sport guise but instead alot of limited editions like the Aegean pictured here, beautiful car that.
My car: 2002 E39 540i Sport - Japanese import - the new project!

I always throw it out there because everyone always has to say something about the ‘03’s being the top dog 540. A bunch of people have tried to tell me what I really have, even though they don’t realize that I got a well optioned ‘01 540 from Canada. At first I thought it was just a poser M Sport, until I ran the vin number while we were on a thread on here, that was when I found out what I really had.

Yes it does, it is everything that an M Sport is, only thing that was different, the original owner ordered it with style 65’s instead of the m parallels. It’s an auto with the steptronic, which is cool with me here in Northern VA traffic.the next one I pick up will be a back roads country driving E39 with the six speed. Found an ‘02 clean 528 wagon with a bad auto tranny, I can get it for about $600, thinking of giving the Clemster a call to find out what all the M5 bits I’m gonna need to convert it will cost me.
