I purchased my E39 M5 from it's previous owner and he had PA Soft along with a couple cables for it, neither of which looked like the one that came with the program. I've tried both a Windows 10 x64 laptop and a Windows Vista x86 laptop and I have the same end result. I have these two cables and I've tried both for both laptops and each time I get PA Soft to see the drivers (first dot is green), but it keeps saying it isn't connected to the car (second dot yellow). The key is on with engine off. Pic of the 2 cables is attached.
I just need to code 1 car to turn off the SRS light (had to disconnect the rear door airbags since the previous owner re-connected them) and code my E46 for xenons (factory halogen car). Not trying to do anything in-depth, but I don't want to pay $200 for the dealer to do this. Am I missing something?

neither of those cables will work with the full version of PA Soft. It requires its own special dongle cable.
The demo version will work with the K+Dcan cable if youve connected pins 7 and 8 together.. Not sure if you can do coding in the demo version though.
You can also set up ncs expert and use it with the K+Dcan cable to do coding.
