Post X5 heater blows hot on one side, cold on other, then switches....

I’ve seen a couple similar posts for this issue, but mine is a little different. So over the past couple days while using the heater in my 2010 x5, the passenger side will blow cold air, if I turn the temp knob up it will start blowing warm for a while then switch back to cold air. Here’s the different part, it switches back and forth between the passenger and drivers side. If I turn up the temps i do get responses in temps coming out of the vents, both sides will be warm, but it’s doesnt last, then switches to one side being cold.. And it’s only cold one side at a time, seeming to be alternating between driver and passengers side... not sure what could be happening since it’s not just one side, not simultaneous, and alternating...any thoughts?
