I just replaced my thermostat and housing, drained replaced coolant and am overheating. Within half a mile the temp gauge is right in the middle but climbing. I get no heat at all. I was a little sloppy putting the housing and wonder if you can foul up the assembly somehow. There was no arrow for the top on this French made Napa thermostat. I would think if I was able to torque down the housing and it does not leak it must be in place. I have not been able to bleed it yet but it has 1 to 1.5 gallons of mixture in there right now. It starts hissing out the hoses when it gets hot. I plan to break it down and maybe try to test the thermo in a pot of water in case I got the wrong temp thermo by accident. In case I maybe overlooking something obvious anyone wishing to comment would be appreciated. The water pump is not too old and was working so I don't think it would have just died out of the blue.
You said you did not bleed the system at all after replacing the thermostat and housing? If you don’t bleed the system it will overheat
