I have recently purchased a 2007 X3 E83, total of 64K on the odometer, BMW brand battery and front and rear brakes, rotors and sensors were replaced by a well respected Indy BMW shop in Southern California. According to CarFax, the car was a CPO twice.
2F4A:EWS-DME interface electronic vehicle immobilization / digital engine is the message. I have both keys, both operate the drivers door and ignition. Remotes work fine as well.
From what I've read regarding the 2F4A error seems to be more related to car not starting issues. Since both keys work, I'm wondering if it could be due to a low/failing remote battery in the key. The previous owner used only one key, and in the two years she had the car only drove 12K miles.
I've tried clearing the codes and it does come back. I have Carly Pro version, as well as Lumar BlueDriver.
I've checked the battery voltage, and have a slow crank to start. I've ordered two ground straps and plan to replace these once they arrive, since this seems to be a common failure point and figure due to age it might be good to replace both.
Since other threads I've read suggested I start a new tread, I welcome your thoughts....
Bump. SAME exact issue! Did you get it fixed.
