Trying to replace the selector rod joint on my 99M3 before I starting re-installing shifter and what not. I have removed the clip off the rod joint itself but the pin will not punch out at all to be able to remove it. Any tricks to getting the pin out? should just slide right out I assume. I tried using a punch and tap in out upwards towards the trans tunnel but it doesn't budge. Any help is much appreciated. First time really doing anything like this. Thanks guys.
Also that seal that is at the rod joint seems to be leaking as well. I found the DIY to replace this seal. Looks like most guys have pried the seal out with a flat head and pressed the new seal in with a deep 15mm socket. Sound about right?

Yes, that is how the shift selector rod seal is replaced... just did mine when installing a new DSSR from Garagistic. Selector rod pin comes right out once the pin is removed....

The Pin is frozen in there. It should slide right out but doesn't want to. I tried wiggling it and applying pressure towards the transmission as well, but nothing.
Smaller punch? Penetrating spray?
Finally got it out. I had to pound the piss out of it and finally came. Now just waiting on the seal from bmw to come in and I should be good to go. Thanks for help and DIY link to seal
