Unhappy Jerky (automatic) transmission at high RPM

    Dear friends,

My E90 (diesel, automatic transsmision, 220k km) is mapped (bought it without knowing this) and since I have it, the upshifting is kind of jerky (the shift time is around 2 seconds) but only at high RPM (>2800-3000) and usually from 4->5 and from 5->6. In semi-automatic mode it looks much better: less delay and less hesitation. I assume this is not a gearbox issue as long as in semi-automatic mode it is able to shift properly. Please correct me if I'm wrong. And then, why does it hesitate in automatic mode...could it be software related?
It's probably worth mentioning that I replaced the ATM fluid last year and the dealership told me that it slips in the 5th gear really bad and the gearbox should be changed (7k euros...)...but I think (and hope) that are exaggerating..

    Thanks a lot!

Have you reset the Adaptations? Mine shifted funny after ATF change. Resetting the adaptations made it shift MUCH better. After resetting there is a particular driving cycle to follow. But I didn't know that at the time. May have to try that some day and see what else it changes.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer.

I never did that. I found this but it looks really complicated especially if I have to follow the steps described here.
Is there any easier way to reset the adaptations?

    Thanks!
