Does anyone know if there is any difference in the pulley that drives the M73 power steering/self leveling pump and the pulley for the M62 or the pulley for the M73n?
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...OE&SVSVSI=BE38 This pulley listed on Pelican Parts looks very similar and seems to be the same diameter, but is not listed as compatible and is stamped with a different part number.
The only pulley I have found with the correct part number (32421704636) is on eBay and ships from Latvia, so it could take weeks to arrive.
I do not know if this applies to your 750. But in my ('97 740iL), there are plastic pulleys on the power steering and water pumps; they can fail causing all kinds of damage.
I have found metal replacements by URO. You may want to check part numbers on http://www.realoem.com to see if these might work for you.
Aluminum Water Pump Pulley: 11511742045A Price (ea): 20.99
Aluminum Power Steering Pulley: 32421736934A Price (ea): 24.99
I got these at http://www.eeuroparts.com
1997 740iL; 5/96 build. Purchased 12/04. Off the road build project 2013 - 2021. back on road 3/2021. Became daily driver (only vehicle) 6/12/2021. Still not completed. Stay tuned as the adventure continues.
Thanks for the advice. The part is only available on special order from eeuroparts, but managed to find one from BMW of South Atlanta. The power steering/self leveling pulley on the 750il is metal. The original water pump finally failed and while I was in the process of removing it I discovered that the power steering pulley was pretty badly chipped somehow. I suspect that when the accessory belt snapped it managed to damage it.
