Pentosin brake fluid vs generic DOT4

My '07 335xi is due for brake fluid. I'm debating whether to have it done for $50 at Brakes Plus, where I take my Japanese and American cars, or to buy a pressure bleeder and Pentosin fluid and put in the time to do it myself. Are there any actual downsides to the shop's generic DOT4 versus the Pentosin? This is a daily driver, will never see a track or seriously spirited driving.

In the grand scheme of things, if you go generic and something stops working as intended, you'll be kicking yourself for trying to save $20-30. IMHO - not worth it

My basic rule: a BMW never goes to Brakes Plus. Only to a shop with German car experience.

Having said that, when you drive a BMW or Audi, you NEVER waste money by using only the recommended fluids. Never, ever, ever.

If you own multiple cars, it's worth it to own tools/equipment for diy as much as possible. brake fluid flush is straight forward and I use BMW dot 4.

Buy the pentosin & ask the shop if they'll do the job using your fluid. You're a regular customer, I'm sure they'll hook you up.
