I got home and shut off my car, 95 525i 5 speed. The message screen on the dash went crazy. I took a short video.

Any idea what's going on?
Dead pixel are very common, but that is the first I have seen. What I would do is make sure all the connectors are clean and seated on the back, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull the instrument cluster apart and have a look there as well.

The capacitors on that cluster sometimes fail, it's reasonably common at this age.
Not sure if this is one of the failure modes.
I've suggested moving your thread to the E34 sub-forum where there are more members familiar with your model.

yup, i've run across this before on an e34. in fact, my e34 did almost this exact thing. i replaced the cluster board with a refurbished one from programa (i think that's the place) and that fixed the problem.

As far as I can tell, it's working as of the next time I drove the car.
same thing mine did when i had an e34.

Capacitors don't go bad nearly as often on 1995s--and if they do, it's a work/notwork issue, not a "works weird" issue.
Solution: I had this exact same problem with mine. A replacement LCD (used in my case) display cured it. The original had some corrosion on some of the solder points, and was worse when hot.
