    1998 E36 M3 track build

    Hello all!

I recently purchsed a 98 Cosmos Black M3 sedan with quite a bit of aftermarket and OEM parts thrown at it by the previous owner/owners. This car will mostly be track only with the intention of street driving being pretty much to and from the track. As of right now I am signed up for the 3 NASA HPDE events at MidOhio this year and will add more as schedules are released (BMW CCA) and the M3 gets closer to being ready.

I'm going to try and list what has already been done to the car, what I plan on accomplishing before the first event, and then hopefully can get some feedback/suggestions from everyone here! I look forward to anything you guys and girls can throw at me. Also, please keep in mind that I do live in a condo community with no garage so my ability to do major things is somewhat limited due to circumstances and my own mechanical ability.

    Here goes....

Completed by previous owners over last 5-6 years

    OEM Steering Rack
    Achilles Motorsport Oil Pan Baffle
    Bimmerworld Oil Pump Wired Nut
Achilles Motorsport Reinforced Oil Pickup Tube
    Glyco Red Rod Bearings
    OEM Connecting Rod Bolt Kit
    OEM Oil Pan Gasket
    OEM Valve Cover Gasket
    Lemforder Engine Mounts
    Lemforder Tie Rod Assemblies
    Lemforder Sway Bar Links (F/R)
    OEM Lower Control Arm Bushings
    E30 M3 Ball Joints
    Aftermarket Xenon Projector Headlights
    OEM Steering Coupler
    Oil Filter Housing Gasket
    Vanos Line Seals
    Alternator Belt Tensioner
    A/C Belt Tensioner
    Alternator
    Idler Pulley
    Idle Control Boot
    Rear Shock Mounts
    Rear Shock Mount Reinforcement Plates
    OEM Expansion Tank
    Behr Z3 M Radiator
OEM Radiator Hoses and Mounting Kit
    80 Degree Thermostat
    Stewart Water Pump
    Coolant Temp Sensor
Fan Delete and Fan Delete Nut
    OEM Power Steering Lines
    OEM Power Steering Reservoir
    Power Steering Pump (Rebuilt)
    Intake Pipe
Front Wheel Bearing (L or R not specified)
Powerflex Urethane Rear Trailing Arm Bushing
    Sachs Gas Shocks (4)
    Cam Shaft Sensor
    Guibo/Flex Disc and Bolts/Nuts
AA Gen 3 Cat Back Exhaust
    AA Track Pipe
    Timing Chain Tensioner
    Throttle Actuator
Front Control Arms (L and R)

My planned items before first event

All relevant fluids/oils (Trans, diff, etc)
    SS Brake Lines
    Track Pads
    X-Brace
Apex Arc-8's (already pledged in group buy)
    Corbeau FX1 Pro (x2)
    Kirk Racing roll bar
    6 point harnesses
    Tires

I have already ordered the roll bar from Bimmerworld about 4 weeks ago. I have both Corbeau's sitting at home and all hardware coming from Motion Motorsports. I have not purchased the harnesses yet however. I was leaning towards Schroth but how does everyone feel about Crow? As far as pads go, I was thinking Hawk HT-10's. ECS SS brake lines have already been installed. Concerning tires, I was thinking RS4s but I noticed that Tire Rack currently has Star Specs on close out.

Yes! Sorry, have been very busy with work sadly. Just dropped the car off with a local place for an alignment and inspection. I will update more later this week when I'm not at work. I have the xbrace, pads, roll bar and seats to install still. I do have Apex Arc8 ET30's installed. Have them wrapped in the new Direzza ZIII's. I decided on them over the RS4's

Is Mid-Ohio in your future? I've never driven it, but have photographed a number of CART races there back in the day. Looks like great fun.

Yes! I'll be at all 3 NASA Great Lakes events this year with the first in a few weeks from now. It is great fun driving it. Lots of off camber corners and blind exits to keep you busy
