Figured I would update this thread. Not much progress, just putting in a few minutes here and there.
Been spending my time and energy on bigger and more important things lately; got pre-approved for a mortgage and am currently house-hunting (first time home buyer). Also truck hunting, I have settled on a new(ish) Tundra. Just waiting for the right one to pop up to snag.

I do miss the race car though, hopefully Ill have it running in a month or two... been way too long.

i would focus on getting a house while interest rates are low. In the long run I believe you will be money ahead.

If your not married you should be sleeping under a bridge and ordering more race car parts to be delivered to friends houses.

Buy a house with a garage, preferably one that can fit a lift.

A garage would be nice. Working in storage units or carports gets old quick...

    Kinda slacking on updating this..
But the short of it is that the car has been back on the road for a bit now. Been doing great up until a couple nights ago.
Went out for some local street action, couple 700+ whipple 5.0s on E85 called the old Bimmer out. Had to go out and give em the sauce...
Vids are on my FB and in boosted e36 world for anyone interested in seeing a 700 whp 5.0 (auto, E85, whipple SC, exhaust, etc..) get the life run out of him by an old BMW

Anyways, later that night on my way home at the top of 2nd my shit popped. Pulled over, knocking really bad in neutral. Sounded like rod knock. Shut her off.. 24 hrs later had the engine out of the car and torn apart. Only to find out it was the trans that had popped. Super, mega pissed. My dumbass fault for not investigating further.... But anyways, thats where I am at right now...

Not sure what Im gonna do. Prob just throw some new bearings in, slap a new HG on and put her back in....

Not sure if these will work, but these are 2 of the runs against the 5.0

Whack whack whack — does sound rotational and engine knock passed through my mind as a possibility at first. I am on my 3rd trans. Getting one of Volosso’s GS6-53 kits.

Time for the 335 trans swap! I know it sucks to have ripped the motor apart, but look at the bright side. $300 trans replacement vs 1k minimum on the engine rebuild side. I'm still glad to see this car brought back to life

I would do the 335 trans swap in a heart beat if I could afford to drop $3k on it right now. No way though...
I just bought a house and a 135i. Cant afford to drop big money on the E36 right now unfortunately....

Good idea unless/until you have more money and cars. My E90M3 just has the basic bolt on mods. I’d like to supercharge it but trying to wait on that until I have a 3rd car ....

Rajicase has gone modern. Scooped up this 2011 135i m sport, 6 spd manual. Has catless DP, vrsf intercooler, JB4, and Bilsteins. Other than that it's stock and will stay that way. Going to be my new daily.

Kinda forgot about this thread. Nothing new to post... Kinda lost interest in the car. Engine is still sitting on a stand. Maybe ill find some interest again soon, maybe not... Miss driving it but no motivation to work on it. Been loving the 135i as a daily though. Sweet car.
See ya guys in a couple months
