    Head gasket

I have to replace my head gasket due to an oil leak. Looking for advice on which brands are good or bad? Anything to stay away from? This kit is on Amazon.

I know Victor Reinz M20 head gaskets have a bad reputation. Could be a different story for the m10 though.

Great price. for my 2.0 M10, I only had a problem with the VR when the head was warped (blew between cylinders). Either way - get the head checked for flatness, clean deck and head surfaces very good. Do you know the thickness of the HG in that kit?

It does not say thickness. What thickness is recommended?

Depends if the head/block-deck has ever been shaved and how much. It seems that the OE is 1.5mm thick and 1.8mm is avail if the head/block-deck has been shaved more than just a tiny bit (I don't know what the threshold is! maybe shaved more than 0.2mm (.008 in)?).

Try the Elring kit, I have not been impressed with VR gaskets.

I'm siding with Elring too. They're much better on the newer motors than reinz anyhow and about the same price
