E36 M3 vs regular E36 front brake lines

I know they're obviously a different part number, but can anyone tell me what the difference is between the E36 M3 front brake lines (the rubber/flex part to the caliper) vs the regular E36 version? I assume maybe the length is slightly different, but I'm not sure.

I don't know off hand but I believe the M caliper is different and my have a larger inlet hole for the line.

This site has drawings with length and thread for the hydraulic flexy lines https://brakeparts.co.uk
    Look up the differences

Difference appears to be 2cm on euro cars

Surprisingly, both the hard line and the flex lines are different part numbers.

So, it looks like standard ones are about 45cm and M3 are about 47cm. Maybe that's just because of the additional caster on the M3 which leans the caliper further back? Either way, I have my doubts that it would be enough to make a noticeable difference.

If this is the difference, I cannot see how it would hurt the mere mortal 3 Series to be fitted with M parts, although the M could possibly destroy the mere mortal parts if they get fitted.

There are two dimensions, the length and the diameter. I would expect the M to perhaps have a larger diameter as will as a different length. Order both and send one back. Then compare with the one that comes off.

Sounds like time to go for braided lines if any performance argument to do so over M lines which may or may not be the identical material just longer when made by a third party none OE

It's a long story, but basically it's a TI so that's what I bought lines for...then I noticed that the M3 fronts were different. I already have M3 front brakes so that made me wonder if I specifically needed M3 lines.Whoever is on the other end of the ECS live chat is of no help.

I’m not surprised as this is inter-model mixing of parts, though within the same chassis.
I would not expect them to know.

I guess I was hoping they could tell me the same thing that the other site did with regards to the length.

That's where I'm at with it. I'll see if I can just exchange the front lines since they sell them all separately.

I held them up to the others and believe the other measurements to be correct.

I ordered the M3 front lines so I'll take some pictures and measurements side by side before sending the other ones back.

Well, the new lines showed up. The fittings look the same, but as expected the M3 lines are a bit longer. By my rough measurements, about 15mm.
