Quick update. So I purchased the OEM CCV to replace the aftermarket one. When I pulled the aftermarket one off, it was very oily. I stuck my finger in the back of the intake manifold and it had a puddle of oil. So I then decided to pull off the throttle body and look in there. Sure enough, there was a bunch of oil inside the intake manifold. I used a shop vac to vacuum it out, the physically reached in and put some paper towels in there to absorb the oil. After I did that a few times, I shot some brake cleaner in there and then wiped and dried again.
Today I dropped the oil and oil pan. No pieces of anything in the oil pan. Definitely some sludgy sediment. I used some weed whacker material and it went up about 6-8 inches and I felt a very light blockage. It pushed through though - I got over 24" of the line up there, so I think it's OK. Did I go to far?
So I did the Kerosene Enema with some clear kerosene. Here is my question - I started pushing the kerosene in and it started splashing down from someplace higher up when I pushed it in through the tube. Some stuff came back down in the line - not tons. Right now I'm just letting everything drip dry and I'll start buttoning it all back up and hopefully it will work. Is that splashing down normal?
Do I try the aftermarket CCV or should I use my brand new BMW one? (I also have a 540i which may need it eventually. LOL)
Yes it is, the OSV has a 'vapour and oil' input, a clear gasses output (that connects to the PCV) and the oil drain - your dripping stuff came from the input.....

Thanks. That gave me some peace of mind. I did find a little piece of plastic in the oil sump/pump today. Nothing else. Looks somewhat the piece that connects the OSV metal to plastic.
The weed trimmer string went up a couple of feet. I’m guessing it was winding around in the OSV?

Seems as if my thread was jacked hahah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm trying to figure what that black piece could be. I agree that it's probably OSV, doesnt look straight like the chain guide pieces.
Here is how mine looked like, all chain guide pieces:

Yeah - if you look at the OSV part - the plastic connects to the metal piece with a shiny black plastic looking thing. That shiny piece looks exactly what I found. I just put it back together tonight, but didn’t start it up. That’s for tomorrow....I’m going to drive her a while and see how it goes.
