I posted earlier about a steering angle sensor I was working on. To be honest I decided to leave the sensor replacement to my indy mechanic since it had to be calibrated by them anyway. It turns out I have another problem in the transfer case actuator. It looks like I can get a kit for about $150. Wondering if anyone has experience on how intense this job is as far as difficulty. I can do brakes, radiators, control arms, water pumps, just an average wrench I would say. Any input would be appreciated.
What car is this on? Is it the actual actuator or just the gear? I’ve seen a lot of posts/comments on just the gear failing, it appears to be quite common. Have a look at the videos or replacing it, it’s very easy. From what I remember it’s just a couple of bolts to get the actuator off.

Might help. If it’s just the gear i think it’s much cheaper, and I read somewhere that you might be able to rotate the gear 180 degrees so it’s working on the in touched side. Not too sure though.

Thanks for your reply. I should have checked for videos on you tube before I posted. I think it is the gear and it will be fairly easy.
You just reposition the gear when the gear is working it just goes back and forth so there's is a whole section of the gear that is not used
