    fuel pump support ring install?

My fuel pump died so I went ahead and replaced the pump and the filter but unfortunately while getting the fuel pump out the plastic support ring(16141182903) cracked. I went ahead and ordered a new one but cant seem to get it to install. I've tried twisting forwards, backwards, by hand, screwing it onto the fuel pump removal tool and going at it that way. I'm at my wits end and cant find anything online or in a manual about this piece.

Thank you for the welcome. The part that i'm having issues with is actually the white plastic piece that fuel pump retainer (step12) actually screws on to.

He's wanting help installing the plastic ring that the flexible seal seats in from what I can determine. I didn't know that even came out. The part number he's referenced is for a MOTORCYCLE according to RealOem.com.

Where did you get the replacement part? I searched RealOem.com and was not able to locate it.

    Still a head-scratcher. RealOem indicates it's for a motorcycle.

Yeah the research I did found that it almost a universal bmw part. but i cant even find the installation info for putting it on a motorcycle. I would assume its similar.

Just an update: Called the dealer and they had no clue(Im not blaming them, its an older model and a very unusual problem). I'm going tomorrow to pull a tank for this car, should be up and running by the weekend if all goes well.

Not even sure what that is … is it UNDER the fuel pump? You said "support" so that seems possible. But I don't know that it's a serviceable item. Replacing the fuel pump should consist of removing the retaining ring, pulling up the fuel pump and putting in a new one. Replacing the support isn't something I've ever even heard of.

    Ooops … got me, too.

But the OP has that number in his 1st post anyway.

I'm curious what the resolution was.
