Trying to build a 1000hp full trim M3 is very difficult when youre trying to keep it stock looking.
I know the feeling. I’m preping mine for a complete paint job. Now would be the time to do flares but dontt want the riveted on race car look. They would have to be welded on e46 330i flares but that will be a lot of work to keep it stock looking.

But I have thought about getting a clean 328 and swapping everything over. Havent totally made up my mind. All I know for sure is that I will be swapping all the parts into a clean chassis at some point.
Average person can't tell an M3 from a 328. Twistys and front bumper are really the two main things. Without a 328 and an M being side by side most people wouldn't tell a difference. I think a 328 with just the flat moldings look great + front bumper for better IC airflow.

Its not a real M3 anyway... Those are in Europe :-) but lets not get into that... Really the turbo cars should have there own badge "e36 turbo" whole other animal altogether.

You can pick up a clean 328 for 2k and a straight body with blown motor for $500... Hell I just had a guy DROP OFF a straight alpine white sedan roller for like 70 bucks (fuel and loading it). Basically free, w/ title

As far as interior... Your going to pay for it. You'll be lucky to find a set of "vadars" for under 1000.00 which are still 20 years old. And what exactly is great about a E36 interior anyway? You can find a mint interior but those cars go for 7-8K+ and how long will they last before they start to sag? Rip that jank out and make it the way you want it

I guess it all depends on how soon you wanna be back up and running... Right now your grieving but give it a few weeks you'll start to itch and that cheap 328 1-2 week swap time may start to sound a little bit better. If you want you a clean turbo BMW I would suggest either going forwards or backwards.

sell all your turbo bits and go for a newer model if you want clean
or go e30 (a wagon would be awesome if you could find one)

As much as I honestly love the e36 and keeping them clean. Truth is unless you have unlimited funds for it you will not have a perfect example of a Turbo E36. That said, there are some GREAT examples of such cars but, no way in hell I'm dumping money into a perfect build that essentially gets ran out at "Mexico" every weekend.

Take it how you want, I'd love to have a perfect car but that is not really the reason we all are here boosting 20+ year old cars, although some do have it. It took them great amounts of time and money, which I applaud and accept I'll never have. Be this the reason you put a cage in your next car!

I have thought long and hard on my options. I have always wanted a clean e36 m3. So I'm gonna get one, even if it isn't fast. I am toying with the idea of tubing the front end of my current M3 and just making it full-f'ing-race car and gutting it. And then getting a clean m3 and retrofitting stock n54 twins onto it for a clean and reliable 450ish whp as a daily. I think that would be dope and be an awesome and reliable daily.

Sorry about ur car, that really sucks. Glad ur ok.

    BUT HERES WHAT YOU DO!!!

Cut the quarters right off that thing, put some flares on it. Put a 28x10.5W slick.

Contact Perry, get ur self a real nice TH400 conversion.

Ditch that 66 for a 72 or bigger, get a nice little single nozzle nitrous kit, dry kit, pill it for 75-150 shot

    MS3 PNP

    Go 8.20's at 165.

    Get bitches.

    And thank me later.

Sorry to hear about the car. Is that right front frame rail bent? If not it seems like you could fix it for not too much. Could be a hood, fender and headlight and bumpers.

So sad to hear about this, after finally getting into the boost game this happens...but #1 you're ok and can now play another day Plus I'm sure you will be better at avoiding a mistake like this again. Glad to see you are on the hunt for another E36, and with all the goodies on your car that's what I would do too. Go for the M if you have the initial funds needed and recover most, if not all of it back when you sell off the parts you don't need. The sleeper look is the way to go too.

Lets be honest, the differences between the M3 and the 328 are not worth the additional thousands of dollars.

When i switched from my m3 sedan to my 328 sedan, i told myself i would swap the interior, but after it got running, i didnt care at all and sold the entire m3 for 500$.

I bought my gay colored sedan from the original owner for 2k. It was perfect, old person owned, no rust, no accidents, no paint work ever.

But i can tell you that i kind of wished i kept my M3, because it was shitty and i would have cut the car up to make it light and fit bigger tires. The 328 was too nice to do that to.

^ especially if the E36 is a turbo. They both have their pros and cons

    m52 has better sealing characteristics
    s52 more displacement

    there is no incorrect choice.

the OBDI cars though with m50 (with the exception of NV) I would avoid. I have had a few OBDI 325's and the overall quality of the car seemed to be worse

    That would mean dual sadnesses.

OP get a clean 328. Swap out the good bits from the M, and enjoy.

Oh man that sucks....Still interested in meeting up. I just finished (well mostly) my e30 I crashed at Barber so I feel your pain.
e36 shells are pretty cheap here (especially in Atlanta) so hopefully you can move on.
