I came across this eBay listing of a nice e23 in nice color but what cought me is that they mention that only 1085 e23 745i executive edition were made with water buffalo interior. Is this information true and how can we confirm?
Asking because I have same car, same specs, same Milage but better condition

Nice car, good color combo and low miles- It'll bring good money-
From what i could quickly confirm is following:
- 735i Executive 2004 pcs
- 745i Executive 396 pcs
E23 745i Highlines were made just 329 pcs. Really nice looking car in the advert but that Panasonic? unit made me die little inside.

These are lower numbers than I expected, makes me slightly happier
Regarding the interior I believe this car deserves Careful leatherique leather treatment before advertising it at such a price and it should definitely have the front/rear Becker units for Originality....how awesome this system works raising the audio volume automatically as the car accelerates proportionally.

Yes, especially when you consider total of 16031 pcs were made (745i). Executive/Highline models were sold towards end production, around 1985-86. That specific car shows 05/1985 by vin.
745i was true marvel of engineering at introduction. Engine management was way ahead competition, in 1983 Audi 200 turbo was still using decade old K-jetronic.

Missing the warning triangle but the storage compartment is there. The fire extinguisher appears to have been removed. Can't see the controls for the aux heater listed on the build sheet and the OBC is not mentioned on that sheet. Intersting the cars BMW puts out when the competition has new models available. Loaded up with all the goods.

Kieth,
Where do you retrieve the option codes that are so precise? Rather which site do you use, I"d like to run a cple of vins but latley seem to be struggling with whats available online.
Thanks
just changed from bimmerinfo which did not give me results today to bmwvin.com
I have updated a few of the codes above as the numbers have been reused and the new description was used or the description was in German.
My start for SA codes is Holgis' E24 site: http://www.6ercoupe.de/englisch/laufz5.html and I have asked him about a some a few years ago and others I have deduced as to what they mean. for example, he told em that 365 was the laminated rear glass so easy to use a razor blade to remove tint since the fine wire defroster is between the glass. Holler if you don't find out what you need.
One of the options on my 1986 745i Highline is:
S915A - Dummy- SALAPA
Anyone know what that is?
Also had Headlight wipe/wash system that was removed and replaced with US Spec lights when the car was federalized. I would like to reinstall them if anyone knows of a post facelift set for sale.

I thought turbo Porsches used AFM too in early eighties. Out of curiosity which Porsche model would you see competing with automatic executive car? I was thinking charging air pressure and knock regulation system or 4-speed electric automatic transmission.
Being european i know very little of old or current american made cars. Actually i don’t know personally a single person who would own any recent models here. I do remember reading USA was first in 70’s with catalysators and engine management advancements followed quickly.

Your VIN's last seven begin with 1150xxx? Neat!
In 05/83, when the Motronic 745i came out, GM had TBI on their Corvettes (yes, no '83 Vette I mean the late C3s and early C4)...you know, the Crossfire. TPI with MAF came out in '85 right then went back to speed density later? Their electric shift trans did not come out until the LT1 best I recall around 1992.
Porsche had AFMs on the 944s and 911s for a LONG while.

Leather interior in Highline was two-toned cow hide and covered also dashboard and pillars. Here is comparison in german sales brochure: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xrrbxmp44...yccV5ngfa?dl=0

And code 440 is Executive. No code 440? No Executive.

Is guess you have etched this in stone after we decided that non-smoker option wasn't a correct name for this one. I haven't gone as far as that but since you did, I'm ok with it. I changed the above listing for the car offered (8751700) to show Executive instead of non-smoker package.
I found that by translating a sales brochure here, that I imported from Germany. Power recline and buffalo could have been added to a non executive car same with the dual Becker setup. Wacky stuff.
