Anybody using these funky german smoked tail lights?

These look kind of interesting, but I cant tell how much of a swap it is. Do they come with ballasts? Are all the bulbs (including reverse) LED?

I have NO room to talk... Damn it!

Ayee hope those are at the very, absolute end of your e39 bucket list. If so, Get'em. Just know, before you go out and buy a set, most aftermarket headlights and most especially tail lights are designed well enough and then China happens and you get fun things you didn't pay for; Shorts, water intrusion, flickering, fogging, poor light output or, way too much (as if that's a real thing ((I don't care. At night in the woods, light baby, all the lightz is what I love. I always respect oncoming driver's eyes if I can)) Wrong colors leading to just one more reason that cop pulled you over to "inspect" your equipment... Nobody needs that, especially if 'merca keeps developing... Sorry.

So, I say, read reviews on ebay. That's a feature now.
Set your price limit and prepare to most likely (78%?) hate them in a year, perhaps not the style but how they won't look anything like the pic you saw then.

OMG, I'm so like (muffled names here)

If you like 'em man, pimp be with thee!

I’m sorry man, don’t mean to be a jerk, but sometimes you have to be, especially when it comes to those...... things!

Ghostbutt, it is your car, do what you want, but you did ask, I am strict OE when it comes to that stuff. I've worked at shops doing autobody for years, and just this week, went back full time at another one, customers complaining about wet water issues in their trunks, 80% of the time involved those aftermarket turds.

For the record, I think they are the tip of a very tacky iceberg but again, I've no room to talk. I meant what I said above also so...

    Hi,

    Take a look at this thread where a UK Touring has these fitted;

    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...hlight=UK+540i

I think with the clean look of the car, good classy modifications these rear lamp clusters can be used!

    Cheers, Dennis!

I think if done right AND they fit the theme of the car AND they're built well, they can. I so far, haven't seen that.

Not the look for me but it's your car so rice it up! I think these would be the perfect complement:

Ghostbutts, don't get discouraged, there are lots of light styles out there for these.

Just find a well built set that you like and forget what anyone says. My concern is sub-par parts. I've had some experience there with aftermarket lights.

Might be good to look through the Ümnitza catalog of lights before you commit. They have a rep.

My favorite lights are actually the OE red tails. Just looking at what's out there really.
